Please note: Freifunk firmware and Freifunk webadmin are based on the outstanding Linux distribution OpenWRT. OpenWRT (in contrast to other firmwares) enables you to install new software packages without the need to wait for firmware enhancements.

Using Netperf

To test the link speed, the netperf program can be used. If you opened up the OpenWRT command line, the test can be executed as follows:

1. Download program: cd /tmp;wget http://ip-address-of-this-device/netperf
2. Make program executable: chmod +x netperf
3. Run program: ./netperf -t UDP_STREAM -H ip-address-of-this-device
