Wireless: Basic Settings

Note: After you have made your changes, click Save to apply your changes.

Operation Mode
  • Wireless Range Extender
  • Increases your Wi-Fi coverage by repeating the wireless signal of your router.

  • Access Point (Wired Range Extender)
  • Adds wireless networking to an existing wired(Ethernet) network or upgrades a existing wireless network.

Extender IP address

Your extender's IP address will be static or dynamic (assigned by a DHCP server - probably your router).

  • Automatic Configuration - DHCP
  • If you connect using a dynamic IP address or cable modem, keep the default, Automatic Configuration - DHCP.

  • Static IP
  • To use a fixed IP address to connect to the Internet, select Static IP. A static IP address can help you manage a limited number of IP addresses on your network, and gives you an easy way to access your range extender's settings interface from a browser.

  • IP Address
  • Enter your IP Address.

  • Subnet Mask
  • Enter the subnet mask.

  • Default Gateway
  • Enter the gateway IP address.

  • DNS 1-3
  • Enter your DNS server IP address(es).

Network Name (SSID) and Password

Enter the name of your wireless network and the password.

Channel Width

Select the radio channel width for your wireless devices. Wider channel width increases throughput speeds, but is more prone to interference with other wireless radios in your vicinity.

Security Mode

Select the security option for each wireless network.
WPA2 - strongest
WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode - strong
WEP - weak

WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode / WPA2 Personal

Passphrase: Enter a passphrase of 8-63 characters.

WEP

WEP is a basic encryption method, which is not as secure as WPA.
Encryption: Select a level of WEP encryption.
Passphrase: Enter a passphrase to automatically generate WEP keys. Then click Generate.
Key: If you did not enter a passphrase, enter the WEP key(s) manually.
TX Key: Select a default TX Key to use.

SSID Broadcast

Disable SSID Broadcast to hide your SSID so that station device cannot see your SSID via site survey. You may need to enter the SSID manually from station side to establish the connection once SSID Broadcast is disabled.

802.11r

Enable this feature to support Fast BSS Transition for roaming from one RE7350 to another with a 802.11r compliant station device, such as iPhones and iPads. The SSID must be the same on the RE7350 devices, and the RE7350 devices must operate in the same IP subnet.

Range Extender ID
  • Extender Name
  • Enter the extender name to be used as a TCP Hostname or NetBIOS name.

  • Friendly Name
  • Give your device a friendly name. This is how other devices in your network will identify it.

Time Zone

Select your network's time zone from the drop-down menu. This is important for scheduling of firmware updates when Auto Update is enabled.

Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes

Select this option to have the Router automatically adjust for daylight saving time.

Restart

Click Restart to restart your range extender. All changes that haven't been saved will be lost. Be sure to click Save before rebooting.
